Mutiny again?
Breaking news at Inquirer.net tells us that today is a day that Filipinos will witness the makings of another coup d’etat and have to bear with all the hassle that follows this. This time the coup attempt is triggered by the decision on PGMA’s ouster.
Is it just me or are coup d’etat events more likely to happen when the president is a woman? But then again, the questionable events that led to PGMA’s presidency and the alleged corruption behind all the publicity on her Strong Republic are factors contributing to the discontent of these soldiers in the present government.
Good luck to Trillanes and company, and hopefully they keep this mutiny within the boundaries of human decency and respect for life.
They have a blog, too. Click here.
They present this statement in their site:
We, the Officers and Members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, loyal to God and country and to our duty under the Constitution, do hereby make the following declaration: A crisis of extreme proportions now confronts our people. The economy, the rule of law and the moral order lie in ruins. Political, judicial and economic power, as well as the power of the mass media, has been perverted to inflict and justify high crimes against the Filipino people. More and more among our people no longer eat, while the idle rich and the corrupt live like kings. Minority rule has replaced majority rule. The three branches of government are now in total disarray, the entire system has broken down, thanks to a President whose legitimacy is denied by the vast majority of our people.
