The Most Stupid Crush-Related Rituals
I was sifting through my mess box looking for old photos of myself when I came across a folded and browning piece of paper with the numbers 2.14.95 and a guy’s name on it. It took me a full minute to realize what it was. It was part of a charm ritual I did during ‘95.
Love spells and rituals originated during high school (at least in my case). Being enrolled in an exclusive school sometimes means having to deal with plague-like trends such as latest fashion tips, the hottest cologne scents of the month (Nenuko, ugh!) and… success stories of ‘how-to-get-him-to-like-you’ rituals.
Here are some of these rituals:
1. the Folded Paper love spell - A girl writes the ‘target’ boy’s name on a piece of pink paper, folds it and kisses it a few times while whispering something that translates to ‘be mine’. She then hides it under her pillow, and within the week… the guy will miraculously call her!
The first time I did this was during my senior year, but Devon (Sawa) never called.
2. the Soulmate Through a Mirror love spell - On the midnight of Valentine’s (for some reason, it has to be done on Valentine’s), a girl must hold a lighted candle in front of the mirror and whisper ‘who is my soul mate?’. The alleged effect is a one-second glimpse of the girl’s soul mate in the mirror.
I wasn’t able to do this because the only big mirror in my parents’ house then was located near my grandma’s bedroom. Much as I wanted to know who my soul mate is, I didn’t want my grandma to know what I was up to, because she’d laugh (and tell my parents).
3. Asking a stray spirit ‘Who Has a Crush on Me’ - this is probably the most stupid ritual of all. Some girls thought of using a makeshift Ouija board just to discover who likes them. I suspected that the girls who participated in this game pushed the coin/glass to letters corresponding to the name of the searcher’s crush.
I looked on wide-eyed from afar as some girls tried this petty ritual. I’ve been reading occult books on and off since I was twelve, despite the Catholic Church’s admonitions, so I had an idea on the consequences of playing with Ouija boards. Summoning a spirit to satisfy a girl’s love illusions (delusions) may seem fun to some people, but not me.
Some of the girls who attested to the effectivity of these rituals were my closest friends then. Maybe on our next Grand Alumni Homecoming, I’ll bring the topic up and start a game I will call “C’mon now, who lied about these things back in high school?”
:D

You didn’t do the chants?
^_~
Bendz’s last blog post..Nokia N70 and Madam Auring, Updated
@bendz
the chants? a-la The Craft’s “We invoke thee, manong”
I think we had some of these back when I was in school (I was a convent girl) but strangely, I don’t remember any of them. Maybe my brain has blocked them out for self-preservation purposes…

@lis
good for you! those are some strange stuffs that girls come up with during their teens.
The bad thing about spells like these is they only work 2% of the time at most!
Turnip’s last blog post..Turnip?s T-shirt Contest
@turnip
2%? Wow, nice statistic!
Most men have in-built protection against many of these charms and rituals. However, I can confirm we’re all vulnerable to the Telling Us You Like Us incantation.
Also … the Excessive Cleavage Ceremony has been known to work wonders.
@Mark
wohoho! Not all guys take it well when we do the “Telling Us You Like Us” ceremony… lots of awkward moments, forcing the girls to do the ‘pretend-it’s-just-a-joke’ ritual to fix the mess.
A cleavage ceremony must only be done by over 18 girls and only in desperate times. :D
ang alam ko lang spell tungkol sa love at crush na yan eh yung FLAMES..
elemnmtary pa lang master ko nayan.
@kingdaddy
I actually love the FLAMES game. I even modify the names to get better results! LOL.
What did the acronym ‘Flames’ stand for? I remember ‘F’ was for ‘Friends’ & ‘E’ stood for ‘Enemies’ but i can’t remember the rest?!?!?
Please help!
