Smooching for Glory

It’s smooching time once again here in the Philippines, with the Lovapalooza 2008. I am a bit miffed, though, that this event isn’t as big as last year.

Anyway, the Lovapalooza is a tradition in the Philippines that was started in 2004. It is a bid to claim the Guinness World Record for Most Number of Simultaneously Kissing Couples for 10 seconds. This is also a promotional event for new products of CloseUp Toothpaste (Unilever Phils).In 2004, the Philippines entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the most number of kissing couples, 5,327 pairs, beating the previous mark of 4,445 in Chile. In 2005, Hungary claimed the title with 5700 couples. However, in 2007, the Philippines once again set the bar higher with 6,124 kissing couples! That’s 12,248 people who spent 10 seconds in heaven for the glory of the Philippines.
