A Twisted Girl’s Take on Love, Dating and Zodiac Signs

She’s in the Blogosphere in All Her Twisted Glory!

In the University of the Philippines, professors who give out killer exams will most likely be generous enough to provide a bonus question that will give a student a few points that he doesn’t have to bleed for. In one of the Zoology exams I took in UP, our gay professor instructed us to write the answer to the bonus question written on the black board at the back of our blue books.

The question: who is the star witness in the Vizconde massacre trial? The correct answer (”Jessica Alfaro”) was worth 5 points, and as the massacre of the Vizconde family was all over the news at that time, that was the easiest question in the whole exam.

When we finished the ordeal, we turned in our blue books one by one to our prof. He would place the bluebook front side down on the table and write a big “+5″ below the student’s answer to the bonus question. Everyone was nervously quiet as we stood in line to give back our test booklets, when our gay prof suddenly exclaimed in an extremely scandalized tone:

JESSICA ZAFRA?!?

Yes, Jessica Zafra, the author of the “Twisted” books that I bought in my college years and eventually lost (to wily dorm mates who professed to return them as soon as they finish reading). The queen of irony herself is blogging and I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon her blog during one of my morning net journeys.

Her site was in the list of finalists for the personal category in the Philippine blog awards. The post did not directly say that Jessica Zafra owns the site, but I clicked on the link because the blog’s url was catchy, jessicarulestheuniverse.com.

To say that this woman inspired me to write during my college days is an understatement. She rocks, really. Her style is witty, sarcastic, ironic and downright funny.

Visit her site, read her books. I’m glad I did.
