The mp3 version of You’re Still You, the lyrics, J.G.’s Biography and the video clip documenting Josh Groban’s discovery as an artist after the jump.
I have concert envy! Blessed are the souls who will bathe in Josh Groban’s heavenly voice later today and tomorrow. The ticket prices are sky high 5k-25k at ticketworld and wow they (the cheaper ones) sold so fast! Was it just yesterday when I and millions of others first saw Josh Groban on Ally McBeal and fell in love with the angelic tenor? Now he’s actually here, in Manila, Philippines and I won’t get to see him. He’s even going to sing in the exact same stage at the PICC’s Plenary Hall where I received my diploma from the University of the Philippines. *sobs*
In that episode, he played a geeky high school student who asked Ally McBeal’s law firm to represent him. The kid was going to sue the girl who dumped him on prom night. He ended up going to the prom with Ally and singing a song that absolutely melted me! I remember sitting in my apartment alone, spellbound, watching Josh Groban sing “You’re Still You” and bursting into tears immediately after he sang the last note. It’s a beautiful song, and with the current status of my love life that time, I felt like he was singing directly to me!
He also sang the hits “Broken Vow” and “To Where You Are”. Can you believe that this guy is only 26?
You’re Still You
by:Josh Groban
Through the darkness
I can see your light
And you will always shine
And I can feel your heart in mine
Your face I’ve memorized
I idolize just you
I look up to
Everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
I’ve loved you for so long
And after all is said and done
You’re still you
After all
You’re still you
You walk past me
I can feel your pain
Time changes everything
One truth always stays the same
You’re still you
After all
You’re still you
I look up to
Everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
And I believe in you
Although you never asked me to
I will remember you
And what life put you through
And in this cruel and lonely world
I found one love
You’re still you
After all
You’re still you
Biography from joshgrobanlive.com
Name: Joshua Winslow Groban
Born: February 27, 1981
Education: Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, theatre major; Carnegie Mellon University, attended one year
Josh Groban was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 27, 1981. His parents were (are) Episcipalian, his father having converted from Judaism.
Josh did some singing during his school years, but focused more on theatrical arts. During the summers of ‘97 and ‘98, Josh attended the Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan, where he majored in theatre. About this same time, he began taking private music lessons. Groban says: “I started taking music lessons on the side. I was very much into musical theater. I had a pretty good baritone voice, so I began acting and singing in school productions.”
But then Josh’s vocal coach introduced him to the talented music producer David Foster. Josh began working as a rehearsal singer for Foster. You might say that the duet that changed Groban’s life was when he stood in for Andrea Bocelli to rehearse “The Prayer” with Celine Dion. It is reported that a Warner Brothers executive offered Josh a record contract on the spot. Whether that is the case or not, Josh Groban’s star was beginning to shine.
