Big Mistake: Choosing Toni Gonzaga to Sing Perfect World’s Song
I handed a LevelUp! load card to the hubby one day but hang on to it ’til he promised to find a way to turn off the background song (sang by Toni Gonzaga) from his game client. My hubby is a hardcore gamer, he wants sound effects and the works when he plays a game. Working in a PC a few spaces from his, I could hear Toni Gonzaga’s rendition of the PW theme song and I get distracted.
She’s a noted TV host and comedienne, really. Her talent fee must be sky high (as her co-host Mariel at ABS-CBN’s PBB inadvertently said on air, “Wish ko lang kasing taas ng talent fee mo ung talent fee ko”). But why, oh why, did LU! choose her to promote this song?

My life partner plays Perfect World and … err… let’s just say that Toni Gonzaga’s Voice is better heard through the radio on a “once a day basis” at the most.
Can’t the background music be more pleasant? In an i-shop where players log in to PW simultaneously (and dont adjust the sound setting), her song… no, her voice (the song per se is wonderfully moving)… fills your head like a sinusitis.
My point: It’s an absolute waste of resources to pay Toni Gonzaga’s talent fee to promote the PW song.
Why wasn’t there a singing contest to promote the PW song?!? Not a big one, mind you, just a submit-your-vocals thingie that could have showcased non-celebrities’ singing prowess, saving you cash and making the PW promotion fun.
You could have discovered a new and fresher talent to promote it. Preferably someone with a melodious voice, and doesn’t sound like he/she has to shout to reach that high note.
Nagpapalevel ka sa PW or doing quests na mahihirap tapos para kang iniiyakan ng…

I’m no singer, but I’m a Lea Salonga fan, so I at least know that there are some people in the world who could sing in a way that is pleasantly soothing (malamig ang boses), and make a gamer look forward to the next loading of the song. But NOT Toni Gonzaga, OMG.
I know PW is free but we still pay for the perks that you sell in the game, so I think we are entitled to a more pleasant musical environment while playing.

Toni’s voice irritate me too. What I did is look for the MP3 files inside my perfect world installation with Toni’s voice and changed it with Yakitate!! OST.
Now I can play the game again with background music turned on and not worrying that Toni’s PW song will play.

I’m not a Toni fan but it seems there’s nothing wrong in her singing. Well siguro masyado lang mapili mga tao dito.
You should have complained to them in the first place. I for one want a soothing voice to suit the PW Theme Song but we’re not the ones to choose, LEvel Up is. Hehe! And besides, I think Toni did justice to this one. Ndi naman tunog nasal or whatever yung kanta nya.
Sabagay may kanya-kanya tayong taste and I think it’s a majority gusto sha, so ibig sabihin minority lang may ayaw sa kanya… XP

You have to learn to be nicer to people.
On pagsusuplada ang being a diva — You are not even near to being one. So get that in your head.
On billing with Sarah Geronimo — Don’t even think twice. It’s pretty obvious that Sarah has genuine talents while yours is acquired (aral). And the truth is, you’re not even that good.
On Ann Curtis — How can you forget to mention Ann’s name on Entertainment Live when Derek Ramsay guested? As a TV host/interviewer, you have a responsibility to be fair and sensible while at the same time eliciting the truth. You cannot claim amnesia in this instance.
On May Bukas Pa — I love that show but now when you guested. Pilit ang mga arte mo.
Bottom line? You are trying very hard.
p.s. — I am based here in the U.S. and I am watching Filipino shows because I have a sense of homesickness after being here for so long. I want to reconnect with my country and my people. But I won’t waste my time watching your shows — ever. Sayang lang because I like Luis, Bianca, and Mariel. So maybe I’ll still continue watching Entertainment Live and maybe walk to the fridge when you’re on the air.

Lol, she can’t even compare to Sarah Geronimo. Seriously. It’s painful watching Toni Gonzaga act, sing or host. Frankly, it makes me cringe that ABS-CBN has to make audiences endure watching Toni Gonzaga do anything. Though she’d make a very good news anchor because we don’t have to focus on her, just the news.
