A Twisted Girl’s Take on Love, Dating and Zodiac Signs

Noobie Woobie Bought a Webbie

I made a major nerdsville breakthrough recently (like 2 days ago)…..

I just bought my very first website!!! Hooray!!!

I got inspired to publish over the web by starting this blog and voila, i took it one step further. It’s exciting for me because, although I’ve worked in the IT industry for almost a decade now, I never really got deep enough to learn webbie building and designing.

I bought it for my sis, Melissa, who doesn’t go webbing much because she’s busy with the family business, and her 2 other businesses, all related to food. Early on, I realized that my baby sister would be the one to inherit my mom’s entrepreneurial spirit. Yeah, I knew that I wasn’t “the one”, which was wonderful because I can go on being a dreamer and a kid-at-heart. People always told us that I was the earliest to mature among us (siblings), my bro was the fastest to mature, and my little sis was the late bloomer. Na-ah… I’ve always thought it was the other way around, and I was the slowest to mature psychologically. LOL. Needless to say, we all found our niches in this world one way or another.

But I digress.

Going back to the webbie. At first, I was like “yey, i have a website!”, but the next minute, I was scrolling up and down my YM list looking for people who could teach me what to do next. I tried talking to my friends who are noted website designers, Lyle (Weightless of Grand Lethal) and Meng (Sutil of Armada). They started talking about Dreamweavers, FTPs, HTMLs and PHPs… and I was smiling and nodding stupidly, saying “ok, ok.” like I did during my very first session of French class… I COULDN’T GET IT!!! hahaha. When asked how much of the basics of website building I know, I answered “zero”. On second thought, I answered, “negative one”.

I talked to Angelo over the phone and he asked me to open my Photoshop and MS Front Page. I couldn’t. I got rid of my Photoshop because I didnt have the patience to learn it. I opened my front page and thought to myself “wow, im finally exploring this computer”.

LOL.

My close friend, the great programmer Jetlogs of Jetlogs.org was online at my noobiest phase. Needless to say, he got the brunt of my frustration at my noobishness in the beginning. He must be laughing his ass out at me on his side of the web. It’s ok, coz I’m sure as hell laughing at myself on my side. But he was a great help, primarily because he was the one who adviced me which vendor to buy my webbie in the first place.

Salleh finally went online and I pounced on him ruthlessly. I’m glad he’s one of the more patient people in the world because he guided me through the basics, despite my neurotic and redundant prodding. He is the main man of the site, pinoygaming.net, by the way. And in this webbie world, I consider him royalty.

I also happened to bump on Les, my powerblogging officemate, when I went to makati to get my workload. The Anitokid himself is my officemate (brags). He recently won the poll for “Most Influential Blog” awards, and to a starting blogger, that’s big! He dished out useful advice about blogging and website building. Check out his site at my blog roll.

So there it is. After hours of slaving, I made my very first site. Lovingly made for my family. It made me realize that there are still things that I could learn in my world.

Lastly, I give my wholehearted thanks to Ayrsayle for allowing me to use the home PC for this project.
